SIF ®

A Fully Reticulated Polyurethane Foam By Foamex

General Description:

SIF ® Foam is characterized by a patented three-dimensional skeletal structure of strands which provide a constant 97% of void space and a very high degree of permeability. The pore size of SIF ® can be controlled over a wide range of 10 to 100 ppi (pores-per-linear-inch). The texture ranges from coarse and abrasive in the 10-ppi grade to soft and downy in the 100-ppi grade.

SIF ® has excellent high and low temperature features. It can withstand intermittent temperatures as high as 250 degrees F, so that the material can be sterilized with boiling water or steam. At -40 degrees F, SIF ® shows no evidence of cracking or tearing when bent around a mandrel equal in diameter to the foam thickness.

Additionally, SIF ® is not adversely affected by water, soap, detergents, body acids or perspiration. A germicidal additive may be incorporated to protect the foam from deterioration and odor caused by organisms. Chemically, it is unaffected by oils, cleaning solvents or greases at normal temperatures. Reilly Foam Corporation can expertly cut SIF ® into a multitude of shapes and sizes.
